In the latest Smart behind Novidea feature, were introducing you to Jamie McDonnell, our UK Sales Manager.

With 13 years in the insurance business, Jamie is a ‘people person’ who takes pride in understanding the needs of our prospects and customers.

Meet Jamie McDonnell, UK Sales Manager.

1. Whats the coolest thing about your job?
My job doesnt involve many internal meetings, usually were demo-ing the product to someone for the first time; and because I dont lead the demos, I get to watch the first reactions to our product. Seeing the product as often as I do, I forget how outdated a lot of other systems are, so its pretty cool to watch some jaws hit the table and raised eyebrows when they see ours.

2. What would be your dream job, apart from working for Novidea?

Professional golfer! It’s a great balance between being good enough at your sport to do it professionally, but not as famous as a footballer whos going to get recognised everywhere they go.

3. What are your hobbies?

I’m really into sports- I love playing golf and Im so happy the driving ranges are open again. As well as golf, I also follow rugby and football.

4. Whats the best place you’ve ever travelled to?

Its a tie between Malapascua, Philipines which is a really remote, specialist water sports island, and Medhufushi in the Maldives, with floating hotel rooms, where I went for my honeymoon.

5. Favourite book or movie?

I am a huge James Bond fan, so pretty much any of those films, but Skyfall has got to be my favourite. And then for books, with young children I dont get a lot of time to read, but Im a big fan of autobiographies and the Eddie Jones auto is probably the one that Ive read most recently.

6. Whats one thing few people would know about you?
Im very competitive. Not in a bad way, I’m not a sore loser but I like to win- so monopoly with the kids can get pretty serious as I dont tend to go easy on people.

7. What are the top 5 gadgets you cant live without?

  • Garmin golf watch- which I wear every single day even when Im not playing golf
  • Toptracer golf app- which tells you all the stats you could possibly need to know about your golf game
  • Wireless headphones
  • Spotify, its phenomenal
  • Electric toothbrush- I made the conversion very recently and I cant believe I didn’t do it earlier; Ill never go back!
